A solo exhibit by Nikka Reyes-Aligaen
April 21 to May 2, 2019

Crescent Moon Cafe proudly presents Home, an exhibit of paintings and sculptures of birds by Nikka Reyes-Aligaen. The exhibit runs from April 21 to May 2, with an artist’s day on April 27.

Nikka began painting Philippine endemic and migratory birds in 2017 out of a fascination with the creatures and how they are tucked away in places people don’t seem to notice.

“I always enjoyed drawing and painting for as long as I can remember although I never took formal lessons for it. My parents have always been supportive of my determination to self-learn how to create art and provided me with the materials I needed. After marrying a professional artist and marrying into an artistic family, I was encouraged to pick up a paintbrush again to continue painting for fun and expression. I have had two group shows with a group of women from Antipolo and “Home” is my first solo exhibit.”

Nikka graduated from the Ateneo de Manila University with a bachelor’s degree in European Studies Major in International Relations, Minor in Education and Minor in Japanese Studies.
