The Crescent Moon Cafe houses the store for Lanelle Abueva-Fernando’s stoneware ceramics. Each piece is handmade in the studio, which is also located in the Crescent Moon compound.
Lanelle has been in the ceramic business since 1981. She graduated with a Certificate in Fine Arts from the University of the Philippines Diliman, later apprenticed with a potter in Hachijojima, Japan for three years, and furthered her studies in ceramics at the Sun Valley Center For The Arts in Idaho, USA.
After the eruption of Mount Pinatubo in 1991, Lanelle began incorporating volcanic ash glaze into some of her pieces. She also tied up with the EVA Charity Foundation, an organization which supports indigenous peoples displaced by the eruption.
Lanelle has had numerous solo and group exhibits. She supplies ceramic pieces to several restaurants, resorts, and hotels in the country and abroad.
